[11th Century B.C.], beloved friend of David & son and heir of King Saul. A young man of courage and military skill. He came to David's aid when Saul wished to kill him. Using his bow and arrow, he warned David to stay away. They embraced, kissed, wept and vowed their loyalty. They never saw each other again. Jonathan was killed in battle with his father and brother. David grieved him.
